For the past few weeks, here in Staffordshire temperatures have soared above the 'normal' guidelines with temperatures in excess of 90F (33C) which is definitely not normal here! And we are suffering an extensive drought across the UK - but the work must go on even though most homes here do not have A/C and houses stay hot for days, even after the temps drop to more comfortable levels...

But despite the weather, with the exception of a handful of days when the studio was way too hot to work in, Frederick continues his usual pace of work - which is six days a week! At the moment, he is continuing work on the planning stages of his latest commission - a 43" x 32" Oil on Linen Canvas imaginative view of the Courtyard of the Lions in Granada. Skilled as Fred is at depicting architecture, the patterns and the structure of this building have been a real challenge - but things are now moving along and when this full-size template is complete, the drawing will be transferred onto the canvas in preparation for painting to begin!
